After graduation in Human Kinetic Technology at the University of The Hague in 2002 we decided to put our effort into helping handicapped people in third world countries. The Foundation Friends Indeed helped us with finding the address for our first project. They told us about a home for handicapped girls in Kakinada, India. With our medical and technical background we could be of great help to the children in this home. This is how Indiaproject 2003 started. After a year of preparations we headed for Kakinada. During a period of six months, we designed and manufactured different aids for the handicapped girls. We also set up training programs for local technicians and therapists. These technicians and therapists are now able to continue our work. Two of them are still working in the workshop we setup. All five of us have worked on this project with a lot of enthusiasm. This project is one of the main reasons we decided to continue our activities and decided to start the Foundation.
A year after finishing our work in Kakinada, we decided to register officially as a foundation. This has many advantages to us, as well as to our sponsors. Our new name is Movendi Foundation, which means "of moving" in Latin. A very suitable name because we are moved by what we saw during our project in India and that is the reason why we continued our work for the people in third world countries who have difficulties moving.
